Andrews Hub

Dorcas Street, Southbank, Vic

NEP Group

800sq.m new floor in existing shed

Status:

Completed Jan 2018

This Southbank site has been a home for Television production since the early 60’s.

The new building has been inserted under the roof of an existing set store but with a new facade created on Dorcas St that is now the main foyer for the site.

The facade features ‘waves’ of coloured frit glass set in orange mullions. This provides a breakout space on Level 1 for occupants between events and replaces the existing plain brick wall with a new active and transparent facade.

The Andrews HUB is the most technically advanced facility of its kind in the world and will enable a number of large outside broadcast (OB) productions to be run concurrently
in parallel with its ‘sister’ project the Andrews Hub, Sydney. Both facilities are connected to all major stadia across Australia.

Each Hub will allow for ‘remote production’ – accommodating a number of simultaneous productions with connection by a new high capacity low latency countrywide fibre network.
